The Rotary monthly theme for February is World Understanding.
The Rotary Theme for January of every year is Vocational Service. And, the Rotary monthly theme for February is World Understanding. Therefore, before we conclude this month, and begin February we hope you will enjoy learning more about what vocational service means for Rotary and how the Rotary Peace Scholars program seeks to advance World Understanding. We hope that this program will help guide your service as a Rotarian of Action!
PRESIDING TODAY IS: Richard Phalunas, MSRE Club President
Ding! We’re now in session.
Welcome all – Visitors, fellow Rotarians and guests alike to this E-Club program!
Four-Way Test
At the beginning of each meeting we remind ourselves of the The Four-Way Test. Therefore, please remember to ask yourself always . . .
Of the things we think, say or do:
- Is it the TRUTH?
- Is it FAIR to all concerned?
- Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
- Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
A Reflective Moment
“Volunteers are unpaid not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless."
--Anonymous
A Lighter Moment
“ You don’t need a parachute to go skydiving, unless you plan to go a second time.”

Vocational Service – Rotary’s Monthly Theme for January
Through vocational service, Rotarians:
- Serve others by using our unique skills to address community needs;
- Empower others through training and skill development;
- Inspire others to act with integrity by following Rotary’s guiding principles.
Vocational service for Rotarians includes:
- Connecting myriad professions and professional networks with Rotary Club activities
- Using Rotarian expertise to address community problems and help others discover new vocational opportunities and interests
- Promoting Rotary’s commitment to integrity in professional and personal livers
- Recognizing and advancing the worthiness of all professions
Rotary Club vocational service around the world may involve some of the following projects:
- Hosting a business networking event with non-Rotary professionals in the Rotary Cub’s community.
- Offering career counseling for unemployed or underemployed adults.
- Mentoring young people to achieve their career goals.
- Applying professional skills (of Rotarians) to a Rotary Club/District service project.
- Lending expertise through a Rotary District’s resource network, by joining a Rotary Action Group, or by joining or starting a professionally-oriented Fellowship.
- Working with the District Rotary Friendship Exchange Chair to organize a vocationally-oriented exchange to explore how a particular profession is practiced in another country and introduce international friends
- Working with your District Rotary Foundation Committee Chair to organize a Vocational Training Team to travel abroad to teach local professionals about a particular profession o how it is practiced in your country.

World Understanding – Rotary’s Monthly Theme for February
One Rotary International program which seeks to advance this theme globally is the Rotary Peace Scholars program. Follow this link to learn more about how Rotary has sponsored/provided scholarships for more than 1,700 Fellows at its Rotary Peace Centers in just 20 years. This program has enabled many Rotary Peace Scholars to serve as leaders at international organizations, including at the United Nations, World Bank, and others. Some have even gone on to establish their own foundation.
