THIS WEEK’S MEETING
WEEK BEGINNING: FEBRUARY 29, 2016
PRESIDING TODAY IS: Richard Phalunas, Past (Inaugural) PRESIDENT
Ding! We’re now in session.
Welcome all – Visitors, fellow Rotarians and guests alike to the E-Club meeting for the week of February 29, 2016!
Remember the smiling pot. Donations to our E-Club help support our service projects.
We’d like to respectfully remind all visitors that if they would like to contribute the normal cost of a meal for your makeup, we would be grateful. These funds go directly to our many and varied service projects around the world. You can make a contribution in the Donation box on the homepage. Or you can write a check to: Rotary E-Club of District 7530 and mail it to Treasurer MSRE, 115 Hoffman Avenue, Morgantown, WV 26505.
Four-Way Test
At the beginning of each meeting we remind ourselves of the The Four-Way Test. Therefore, please remember to ask yourself always . . .
Of the things we think, say or do:
- Is it the TRUTH?
- Is it FAIR to all concerned?
- Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
- Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
A Reflective Moment
On this 29th day of February, let us together say Happy Birthday to those 1 in 1,461 persons of the world's population born on this date. (In the U.S. there are approximately 187,000 "Leaplings;" and, approximately 4 million others worldwide.) May you enjoy many blessings - four times more than usual on this special day - and throughout all of your years!
On the other hand, as in the U.S. leap years almost always coincide with election years, let us not rue the day because it means that candidates get a free day of campaigning, and so many others get a free day of tweeting about how much they support or dislike them!
This week’s Program: MSRE is about Leadership
When the Rotary Club of District 7530 - better known as The Mountain State Rotary E-Club - began, the Board of Directors went through a Strategic Planning process to create a Vision and a Mission, as well as to discuss how we planned to move in that direction as a new Rotary Club. As all our members were/are leaders of his/her own right, it was not an unfamiliar process; and thus, there were good ideas, as well as lots of input, and discussion. The result was the adoption of the following Vision and Mission for our E-Club:
VISION: Empowered leaders performing exceptional service.
MISSION: To build and strengthen new, emerging, and existing leaders through leadership training with an emphasis on service, peace, and world understanding so Rotarians can throughout their lives perform exceptional service on the local, regional, national, and international level.
Therefore, for our members and those who follow or visit with us from week to week, or who interact with our Board and other members, it will not be a surprise that the largest percentage of our programs revolve around the theme of leadership and/or some element/aspect of such. This week is no different.
We hope this week you will take time away from your busy schedules (and perhaps again in the not-too-distant future) to spend at least 25-30 minutes enjoying one or more TED Talks grouped into a Playlist pursuant to the topic of How to be a great leader. You can access this playlist via the following hyperlink (and download them for later viewing):
Enjoy! Please visit us often, and watch for the announcement of our own new and upcoming program series on leadership and entrepreneurship!
Thank you for participating in this week's meeting!
