The Environment is Rotary International's April Monthly Theme. Therefore, we hope you will enjoy reading more about some of what Rotary is doing in pursuant of a more sustainable environment across the globe.
CURRENT E-CLUB PROGRAM
PRESIDING TODAY IS: Richard Phalunas, MSRE Club President
Ding! We’re now in session.
Welcome all – Visitors, fellow Rotarians and guests alike to this E-Club program!
Four-Way Test
At the beginning of each meeting we remind ourselves of the The Four-Way Test. Therefore, please remember to ask yourself always . . .
Of the things we think, say or do:
- Is it the TRUTH?
- Is it FAIR to all concerned?
- Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
- Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
A Reflective Moment
“Volunteers are unpaid not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless."

A Lighter Moment
Supposedly astute questions asked of witnesses in a court room . . .
“How many times have you committed suicide?”
“Were you alone or by yourself?”
“Was it you or your brother who was killed?”
“Without saying anything, tell the jury what you did next.”
“Was that the same nose you broke as a child?”
“Now, doctor, isn’t it true that when a person dies in his sleep, he doesn’t know about it until the next morning?”

ROTARY & ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
Rotary is committed to supporting activities that strengthen the conservation and protection of natural resources, advance ecological sustainability, and foster harmony between communities and the environment. Rotary seeks to empower communities to access grants and other resources, embrace local solutions, and spur innovation in an effort to address the causes and reduce the effects of climate change and environmental degradation.
$18.4 Million in Foundation global grant funding
has been allocated to environment-related causes in the past five years
through support of community economic development and water, sanitation, and hygiene projects.

Pursuant to this theme – the Environment with a sustainable focus, Rotarians worldwide have joined together to form a Rotary Action Group known as the Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group (ESRAG). For those not familiar with Rotary Action Groups . . . . they are independent, Rotary-affiliated groups made up of people from around the world who are experts in a particular field, such as economic development, peace, addiction prevention, the environment, or water.
Action groups offer their technical expertise and support to help clubs plan and implement projects to increase our impact, one of Rotary's strategic priorities. This support includes helping clubs find partners, funding, and other resources. Action groups can also help clubs and districts prepare grant applications, conduct community assessments, and develop plans to monitor and evaluate their projects.
Anyone who wants to share their expertise to make a positive difference can join an action group. Only Rotarians, Rotaractors, and Rotary Peace Fellows can serve in leadership roles.
