July 2026Welcome To A New Rotary Year
July 1 marks the beginning of a new Rotary year. Our 2026-2027 year of Rotary begins with a new International president and Board of Directors, a new Presidential theme, and a new District Governor, Julie Sawyer, for our West Virginia District D7545.
At the club level, new leadership is looking forward to the sharing of ideas, connecting those ideas to new projects that exemplify our Rotary motto “Service Above Self.” New projects and thriving projects already instituted are the fuel that fires us up, as “People of Action”, to tell our Rotary story.
Rotarians worldwide and within District 7545 recently received an introduction to the new 2026-2027 Rotary International President, Olayinka H. Babalola, outlining his theme and goals for the Rotary year.
The RI Presidential theme for the 2026-2027 Rotary year is " Create Lasting Impact". The theme encourages all of us, as "people of action", to work together to make a meaningful difference in our communities and around the world. It builds on the ways in which members have strengthened their connections to each other and to their communities to Unite for Good, the 2025-26 message. Now, let's Create Lasting Impact and harness those connections and inspire our members, participants, and the public to take collective actions that lead to a sustainable difference — globally, locally, and personally.You can read the official presidential message on Rotary Brand Center.
The 2026-2027 Rotary International President, Olayinka H. Babalola, a member of the Rotary Club of Trans Amadi, Nigeria, becomes the second African to lead the global membership organization.
Among transitioning leadership across the Rotary world, Olayinka “Yinka” Hakeem Babalola is stepping into office as the 2026-27 Rotary International president. Rotary’s General Secretary and CEO John Hewko sits down with Yinka to discuss polio eradication in Africa, Rotary membership opportunities, and his personal journey to Rotary.

District 7545
On the District level, West Virginia. District 7545, welcomes Julie Sawyer, from the Rotary Club of Fairmont, as our District Governor for 2026-2027. District 7545 encompasses 50 clubs and represents over 1,800 Rotarians in West Virginia.
